Who's your favorite movie villain?
Marcus and I discussed this one in some detail.
My faves are a bit traditional, and I coudn't really think:
- Darth Vader - Star Wars
- Sauron - Lord of the Rings

- "M (the child killer)"
- "Dude out of Highlander - him with the staple neck"
- "The Samurai out of Dragon the Bruce Lee Story"
- "Pennywise the clown from It"
- "The Russian out of Rocky IV"
- "David Bowie in Labyrinth, Jareth or whatever the hell he is called"
- "Brain Bug/ Doogie Howser from Starship Troopers"
- "The Blob"
- "Starscream from Transformers the Movie"
- "Mr. Freeze"
- "Evil Robot Bill and Ted"
- "Ash's Evil Hand from Evil Dead"
- "The Nazis from Indiana Jones"

Classy. I love my husband, haha.
What books are on your nightstand?
I just have finished reading V for Vendetta, so that is still lying beside my nightstand. I also have a couple of magazines and a few 'get organised' books that I am ignoring. I quite enjoyed the film adaptation of V for Vendetta, but if they made it more like the book it would have been stunning - It was much richer and darker. I need to get myself more quality comics. I just ordered Demo by Brian Wood and Becky Cloonan, which I have high hopes for! If anyone can recommend a good read (comics or otherwise), I am all ears.
Hm. My cat has jumped up beside me, and she has seriously stinky breath.
Marc and I have decided on a trip to Japan in December! We are going to spend four nights in Tokyo, and then travel down by Shinkansen to Nagato in the Yamaguchi prefecture. My brother-in-law is currently doing the JET programme there, and we will be spending Christmas with him. I need to start saving now! Tokyo, in particular, will kill my purse O_O Exciting!
With work being so busy at the moment, it's great to have something like this to look forward to :)
When was the last time you had to speak in front of a group? How did you feel?
I have been a Teaching Assistant so speaking in front of a group isn't completey alien, but the scariest thing for me was giving a lecture to over 100+ final year Law students on my research o_O Beforehand, I was anxious as hell (to the point of being ill) but it turned out fine. Really good, actually. Woot! Doing that made me proud, and made me think I wasn't totally socially inept. Not that giving lectures rids you from social ineptness....
We rented Night Watch, the most successful post-Soviet film to emerge from Russia, the other night, and enjoyed it a lot. The dub made it cheesier than it should have been (no subtitles were available - boo!), but it was fun and oddly original give the subject matter:
Set in contemporary Moscow, Night Watch revolves around the conflict
and balance maintained between the forces of light and darkness -- the
result of a medieval truce between the opposing sides. As night falls,
the dark forces battle the super-human "Others" of the Night Watch,
whose mission is to patrol and protect. But there is constant fear that
an ancient prophecy will come true: that a powerful "Other" will rise
up, be tempted by one of the sides, and tip the balance plunging the
world into a renewed war between the dark and light, the results of
which would be catastrophic. [Yahoo Movies]
On another note, I am loving this new Ocean themed layout!
What's your morning beverage of choice? Coffee, tea, juice? Homemade or store-bought?
I buy a tall, bold coffee from the Starbucks next door to my work every morning. I take it black with no sugar. I like orange juice as well, but can't function without coffee. I should really make my own coffee, but I get in to work very early and find the extra 5 minute sleep-in a necessity.
What magazines do you subscribe to, and why?
I currently subscribe to Bust Magazine, Venus Magazine and Ready Made Magazine. Bust and Venus are fun... Ready Made not so good these days. It feels like there is nothing substantial in it. Conversely, I subscribed to The New Yorker last year, but find I don't get the time to read it anymore -too many words! :( I would love to have/make the time to read all the articles. Wired is still one of my favourites, but the husband forks out for that one.
I find that there are not many magazines I like to read these days. I used to read Nylon a lot, but gave up because it has virtually no content. I had a subscription to Jane a few years ago, but gave that one up in despair.
Still sleepy. The boy and I went for a walk and had hot chocolate on the beach. It was actually a bit breezy and chilly - roll on the autumn! I'm having 11:05pm hunger pangs, and I don't think we have any food. Hmm.
