I currently sitting in Vancouver airport, waiting to board a plane to Tokyo! Marc and I are spending a week in Tokyo and the travelling down to Nagato by the Shinkansen for Christmas. I'm passing the time playing with my Macbook ... and looking up things to do and visit (I'm thinking the Robot Museum and the Miyazaki Museum). Um... nothing much more to say - just bored and waiting. The 10 hour flight should be interesting :( Expect lots of photos on my flickr!
It started snowing last night, and began settling this morning. Fun! We walked down to the beach and I took a few photos and kicked snow about for a bit. This is my first Vancouver snow :) Next weekend, we are going up to Cypress Mountain to start making use of our ski passes.
In other news, spilt a lot of coffee on my MacBook last night, and although all the keys are working they make a weird noise and feel a bit sticky O_O I think I will have to explore some of the functionality of vox - I would love to get a links section up etc., but it doesn't seem too easy to navigate out of the vox universe?
What's your favorite heartbreak song?
Submitted by esta86.Not necessarily about heartbreak, but it breaks my heart everytime I hear it:
What song makes you rock the karaoke mic?
Submitted by Ann.
I love the SingStar karaoke game for the PS2, and generally pwn when I am singing Thank You by Dido. Now to figure a way to combine SignStar and Guitar Hero...
I've never actually sang Karaoke outside of this game, but imagine I would rock the karaoke mike with any Smiths song :)
There has been a warning issued not to drink tap water in Vancouver for the next few days:
"More than two million residents of B.C.'s Lower Mainland have been told to consider boiling their water in the wake of the big storm that blew through the area on Wednesday.
The Greater Vancouver Regional District issued the advisory Thursday, warning that the brown, cloudy tap water increases the risk of gastrointestinal illness." Source - CBC.ca
The GVRD is advising people not to brush their teeth or wash veg in it. Not that the icky colour of the water itself isn't enough warning not to drink it. You can boil it and filter it, but its still not pretty to look at. Very hard to get over that psychological barrier. We headed out to look for some bottled water for our kitty, and every store in the West End is sold out! .. Here is hoping it is back soon, as we have one jug of cloudy boiled water in the fridge. In truth, however, I have no real grounds to complain about something like water ... but still, yuck:(
What's on your Top 5 video games list?
Submitted by mileena.
My number one video game today, would probably be World of Warcraft - mostly because it has had an exclusivity on my gaming time for the past year. I am a level 50 Night Elf Rogue, which will sound totally dorky until you get sucked in by Warcraft's evil, addictive claws. I have seen many a fine person succum.
My number one video game of all time is Super Mario Bros 3. I spent a shocking much time playing this game as a kid (and indeed all the Mario games), and can still play it again and again.
Mario Kart for the Super Nintendo would come in third - so many fun summers playing this on multi-player mode! Its the epitome of an addictive game. These days, I think Guitar Hero probably comes close to matching it for a fun, sociable game.
Tetris remains one of the best video games ever made. Completely addictive, and never boring, you can pick it up any time and anywhere. I saw a really interesting documentary on Tetris a while back on BBC4.
An honorable mention goes to The New Zealand Story, which is not only super-cute in a serious Kiwi on a mission sort of way, but also wins the prize for having the most stressful "your time is running out" music.
